I made this homemade wallet for my oldest daughter for Christmas. She just got her permit about a month ago so now she decided that she needed a wallet to put it in. So she asked for one for Christmas and I thought it would be neat to try my hand at making one.
Might I say it was pretty difficult! This project is definately not for a beginner seamstress! I got the pattern & tutorial here, but the instructions were difficult to follow, so I'm not sure I would follow them again anyway. I love the pattern though! I changed it a tad from this pattern though. I rounded the edges on my tab & I used a magnetic snap instead of velcro.
On the left is the zippered coin pocket with a large bill pocket behind it. On the right are 6 card pockets & one large pocket behind them. Another thought is that you'll need a heavy duty needle for this project. It was pretty difficult to go through several layers & my machine didn't like that much!
I used a magnetic snap for the closure...LOVE them!!! I wasn't sure if my daughter would like the wallet, but I thought there might be a chance since it has lots of fun prints & bright colors, which she does love. She absolutely loves it!
I have several other projects to share with you that I made for Christmas or other projects. So stay tuned!

This project is on my 'to do' list. Thanks for the heads up on the 'not for a beginning sewer' part. I am TOTALLY a beginner, so I may have to wait a while!
Yours turned out adorable though!!
I know this is a an old posting but I ahve to tell you I love this project I was just what I was looking for. and I have to ask where did you get that fabric? it's a must have for my collection.
Trisha,
I hope you see this. I was going to send this directly to you, but I couldn't link to your name from your post.
I bought this fabric about 2 years ago at JoAnn's Fabrics to use for a part of a diaper bag that I made for my friend & I used the scraps that were left over for this wallet. I haven't seen this fabric at JoAnn's for a long time, so I'm guessing that they don't have it anymore. It is fun fabric though. Good luck & come back & share your project when you are finished. I would love to see it.
